CALL FOR SCORES

NANOWorks Digital Aria Workshop

While we typically workshop short chamber operas, in light of the ongoing pandemic,

NANOWorks will be holding a Digital Aria Workshop this fall.

Considering the present economic difficulties, there are no application or participation fees.

Aria Workshop Fall 2020  Call for Scores

North American New Opera Workshop (NANOWorks Opera) is now accepting applications through October 4 for a completely digital aria workshop. We are seeking music creators who have been composing for around 1–5 years to submit scores for a 2–5 minute aria for solo light lyric soprano and piano, with dramatic emotional or narrative content.

We will choose three dramatic arias from emerging North American composers in mid October, and provide online consultation with composer Jennifer Jolley, stage director Stephanie Havey, and conductor Chaowen Ting, and finally hold a digital performance, creating an audio-visual recording for each of our composers.

Eligibility

Our panel will choose works by music creators who have been composing for 1–5 years, originally from and/or currently based in North America. There is no age limit.

NANOWorks especially encourages composers from historically underrepresented groups, as well as female and non-binary identifying composers to submit their work.
